After meeting him at one of his big parties (featuring Paul Oakenfold and Spencer & Hill) and seeing his recent variable mountain of blog features, I conducted the following interview. Check it out as well as his new release featuring the Cataracs that is really getting big. Hats off to this daring producer; I expect this wont be the last we hear from him.

1. After meeting you in Miami and playing your World Town Beach party (feat Spencer & Hill), we thought a follow up interview would be appropriate. The party was a ton of fun to play and attend. What were your reasons for creating World Town and which artist (who youve played beside or who played one of your shows) have you been most impressed by?

World Town was created durring the doldrums of the EDM scene 6 years ago to breath new life in a stale environment. At that time house music and EDM clubs were at a crossroads between not having popular music, and the "models and bottles" idea of soulful house music fading out. When we started World Town it was the rebellious child that had always existed inside of me for 10 years of playing the dress up and be seen house music events in San Francisco. It was dirty, it was cool, it was not your fathers house music. We were the first to bring every major act to San Francisco and sometimes North America. Debut performances at World Town produced events include Afrojack, Chuckie, Hardwell, Nicky Romero, R3hab, Chocolate Puma, Alesso and many more on the dance side, and Lady Gaga, David Guetta (First USA appearance), Iggy Azalea, and others on the pop side. We have cultivated relationships with all of these acts and continue to produce shows and put out music on World Town recordings with this vibe.

2. Tell me a little bit about how you got involved with Ruby Skye (your current residency)? What about SanFrancisco makes you love that scene the most?

Ruby Skye is the pillar of EDM in San Francisco. We are going on 13 years with the anniversary in mid April (Fedde Le Grande and Nicky Romero are playing) I first got involved with them when I was the music director at KNGY Energy 92.7 and we would produce free events there on Thursdays. We had Morgan Page, Jes and many other dance acts free in SF. When I started World Town, we were much smaller than Ruby Skye at Supper Club, but the rapid growth demanded a bigger stage and Ruby Skye invited us to produce our marquee event there monthly. After the success of World Town, it was a natural fit for me to become the Saturday resident. I've held a residency there for 5 years.

3. Youve remixed and produced tracks for many artists including Gaga, the Cataracs, and MIA. Which artist would you most like to work with that you havent already.

I'm very blessed to have worked with the top artists on my list (as you mentioned above) but I really love the production of Calvin Harris and Zedd. I'd love to work with them in the future. I'd love to do a record with Azalea Banks. I'd also like to do a song with a Neil Young hook, but I'm sure that is a long shot.

4. Our readers would love an Azalea Banks collab, that girl is something else . . . Anyway, youve also collab'd with one of our featured artists, Julissa Veloz. What do the two of you have in store for your fans?

Julissa and I vibe very well as artists. We actually have never been in the studio in the same session, but we have this sort of unspoken understanding of each other. We put out a record called "Different" last year and we have a new track called Triumphant that will be out this summer.

Ruby Sky - Late Night Alumni & Trevor Simpson

5. What has been your favorite show that youve spun at so far and which event would you most like to be apart of in the future?

Ruby Skye is my home, so that is the best place I have ever played.

6. Several new genres of EDM have popped up in the last 5 years (as well as huge pop music exposure). Do you like the direction EDM has been heading? Which genre do you most associate yourself with and which do you personally enjoy the most?

I'm a house guy at heart, I like trap and hip hop as well but I mostly stick to high energy [house].

7. What does your music carreer have in store for your fans over the next year?

I'm very excited to be releasing a lot of original music this year. I've been in the studio non stop for a year, and now its time to share the music. I have tracks with The Cataracs, Anjulie, Seri, Feenixpawl and Julissa Veloz. The goal of the project was to write quality songs, and I think I accomplished that. I'm very excited to get the remixes done as well, it's refreshing to hear some of the top guys re-work your songs. I have remixes coming from Quintino, Lucky Date, Carnage, Feenixpawl, Sandro Silva and R3hab.

8. Very cool, I can't wait to hear some of those remixes. When did you start writing music? What program did you start out on and what do you use now?

I've been a producer for 15 years, I'm in love with Live 9 and have the NA Complete 8 Ultimate and use Sylenth a lot.

9. Mac or PC?

100% Mac in my household

10. Where do you make/find most of your sounds? What VST do you consider vital?

I think Sylenth is the best synth out there, a lot of people think Reason is a toy, but I'd have you know that The Cataracs, Lucky Date and Sandro Silva all use Reason and get phat sounds.

11. Where can fans find your music and where can they follow you for info on releases, shows, etc.?

All of my social media is /DJTrevorSimpson: Twitter & Youtube.

Once again, a big thanks to Trevor Simpson for the interview. Make sure to check out his stuff, this man is going places!

I've had the pleasure to work with (and meet) many talented artists in my years as a producer. I've only worked with two rappers, one being Miss Nyoka Ny-D from Philadelphia, PA. The first thing I noticed with this girl was her undeniable originality. I've never heard anyone who raps and sings like this girl; never met anyone with such interesting and complex lyrics. Here's my favorite track I've done with her so far (although my upcoming album has a dutch house track with her that will blow you away).

Born in Brooklyn, NY, Nyoka Ny-D began her musical journey at a very young age. Greatly influenced by her Trinidadian heritage, the swift rhythms of the islands, the Neo-Soul movement, and the sounds of Hip-Hop, Nyoka Ny-D, emcee, singer, producer, and songwriter, has a unique and promising sound. Inspired by artists such as Bob Marley, Jill Scott, Me’shell Ndegeocello, Bilal Oliver, TLC, Missy Elliot and Lauryn Hill, Nyoka Ny-D has a unique and soulful voice that always capture the ears of listeners. She also has the potential to be one of the best female emcees in the musical world. Known for her charismatic stage presence and energy, Rebel Ny-D is a delight to see live.

Rebel is a good word to describe here. Like her of FB and let the music do the rest of the talking:

I took some time to set up a new weekly music feature, based around new and vintage electro-house. Make sure to keep an eye out for these tracks, they're the best of the best and will definitely make a good addition to your music portfolio/ipod.

First, here's a bumping track by "The Decepticons," a duo out of Spain who don't have a lot of fans yet but definitely know how to make a good track. Definitely check this one out along with their Facebook fan page.

The Decepticons - The Fading Day (Original Mix)

Next is an original mix by a producer named "Attraktive" whom I haven't been able to find anything about. He or She is good though. Very good. Situations like this where a producer doesn't make an effort to promote himself makes me feel like its a big name producer just trying to release some tracks away from his fanbase to see if he's still talented. Who knows ;).

Attraktive - Zombie (Original Mix)

Lastly isn't a 320, but definitely warrants a listen before the full version gets released sometime tomorrow along with a remix by one of my favorite up and coming artists: Lazerdisk Party Sex. The Fat Rat has always been one of my favorites and a remix of The Knocks (NYC) is a match made in heaven. Check out the epic track below!

The always talented Diplo (as wells as Brillz and ETC!ETC!) churned out this massive track for free recently and I still can't get enough of it. There are actually three different versions of the song. The first two feature vocals by rappers Whisky Pete and Chuck Inglish while the final is a very Diplo-esque trap track that happens to be my favorite. Check them out and click this link to download the whole thing for free!
Oh, and also, the album art is spectacular. Who doesn't love that movie . . .

A lot of artists and wannabe producers who haven't gotten to the level of making actual tracks yet use mashups as an easy way to promote themselves without doing much actual work. Some of these, if the artist understands keys and basic mastering, are fun and put a new spin on already released tracks and can be really impressive. Some, however, think that a track in A# and a track in Fm sound great just slapped on top of each other. Depending on just how much you understand about music, those might sound good to you either way, however the point to all this is that mashups can be a great way to promote yourself and even become a mashup producer if you have the skills.

One such producer is a 19 year old from Georgia who called himself "Infinite Limit." He's taken mashups to a whole new level and produced some of the most incredible smashed-up tracks I've ever heard. One such track is a Porter Robinson/Zedd mashup entitled "Porter Zeddison" which is bound to get you jumping. Make sure to check three of my favorites below as well as Infite Limit's Facebook and Twitter pages.
