September 2012 - DJ Maromi - Eye of Doom Mix

I don't feature Happy Hardcore much on this blog but I think everyone loves to get back to their raver roots and rock out to this cheesy yet powerful genre that (if nothing else) can't help but put a smile on your face when you hear at least one song. This mix is full of those as Maromi (who often performs with her Husband, Sparrow), the Queen of Cheese gives the Kandie Kids exactly what they want. I mean seriously, Little Kandie Raver to Heaven to Gangnam Style? Check out the mix below as well as this spunky girl's Facebook Page.

August 2012 - Skull Kids - Decrescendo Mixtape

The current scene is over-saturated with new and inexperienced DJs and an artist really needs to prove themselves as talented to get my attention and make it on this blog. That being said, I think its about time I post a mix from local duo, Skull Kids, who've proven themselves to be not only talented, but have the right attitude for up-and-coming producers in their position. There's nothing worse than a new DJ with a massive ego and nothing to back it up. These guys' tracks are pretty good too. Click this link to check out a collab with Dirty Doses (called Bath Salts . . . right?) that definitely goes the distance. I also got a chance to see them for a third time at Fear and Loathing Music Festival before my midnight set and thought they put on a solid, crowd-pleasing show (especially on the less than pristine equipment.) The mix I'm featuring here is meant to get you jumping. Expect some heavy electro-house that fits their production style. My only complaint is the title. For those of you who haven't taken Music Theory (shame!), a decrescendo is a gradual decrease in loudness which is, if anything, the opposite of what you want a mix to do :P. April 2012 - Deux Yeux - Disco Never Was Dead

Deux Yeux popped up late last year as the first filter funk/french house duo AZ has ever seen. They aren't just stopping at spinning either, they've started by putting out some great mashups on their Soundcloud as well as some sexy mixes, quickly establishing their funky style. This is baby-making music people. While breaking into both the club and rave scenes, if you go out at all you're sure to see them sometime soon. Check out their Facebook and listen to this funky mix below.

March 2012 - Matt Fox - The Noise EP Promo Mix

Matt Fox has made huge bounds in the AZ scene over the last few years. Few producers in the state have gained the renown in the blog circuit or had his tracks make it on popular websites like Hypem.com. With his recent "The Noise EP," Fox has proved once again that he's got the drive and talent to make a mark on this scene. This mix is made up of some of the hardest hitting house, progressive, and 100 BPM electro tracks to come out so far this year. His ability to quickly and seamlessly go from different styles and speeds make his sets unique in more than just the AZ scene. Keep an eye on this producer and check out his Soundcloud and "like" his Facebook.

February 2012 - Setz3r - Shocktart

So as much as I think Eric Isip aka Setz3r is a talented motherfucker, I can't stand even a half hour of dutch house. Fortunately his most recent mix is nothing but electro and features some cool remixes that I hadn't heard before listening to it. To describe this mix he writes, "Electro House and electro are actually my roots in DJing. When I learned how to play I was mostly electro until I moved on to house/progressive/dutch and dubstep. Thank you guys so much for your support through all these mixes and THANK you for listening to all of them! . . . BLAST IT!!! :)." At the moment, Setz3r is also venturing into music production which means we're bound to start hearing some original tracks and remixes sooner or later. Keep an eye on this one and check out his Soundcloud. Shocktart [Fall Electro Smasher Mix] by Setz3R

January 2012 - Nyxem - Andromeda Sessions 002

Nyxem has been sending ADM his trance mixes since he started DJing and this one I finally feel is worth posting. He describes the mix as, "Weaving in and out of uplifting melodies and into pummeling & earth shattering sounds, Andromeda 002 is a departure from "trance" as we know it. If there's one thing I've learned, it's that people have gotta dance. If this won't move you, you're probably either buried up to your neck in sand on the beach or stuck to a giant sheet of fly paper... Highly unlikely." That pretty much says it all. Check out this bold mix below and hear more at Nyxem's Soundcloud. Andromeda Sessions 002 by NyxemMusic

December 2011 - Matt Fox - Rave Juice 2011 Fall Mix

In just 3 short years, Matt Fox has grown from an indie music producer to an experienced EDM producer and DJ. He's headlined several parties and recently released his Rave Juice EP which is featured in this mix. He's currently working on several new projects with some very talented vocalists and aside from his next Album which should be completed by the end of this year, he also has several new remixes coming out on his label: Carillo Music. Make sure to check out his soundcloud along with his mix which showcases Fox's flexible style. It contains 6 genres (moombahton/dubstep/electrohouse/dnb/hiphop) and crams 36 tracks into a little over an hour. Check it out and make sure to "Like" Matt Fox on his Facebook Fan page. November 2011 - Ill-Legal? - The St. Valentine's Day Massacre Vol. III

One of the driving forces in the Arizona dance music scene is the champion dubstep organization, UK Thursdays (whose motto is simply: Bass/Whobble/Grime.) A few venue changes did nothing to hinder the amazing productions and incredible talent these guys have been able to bring about (like Rusko, High Rankin, 12th Planet, and Datsik just to name a few). You can check out upcoming shows and read more on their website. Blake a.k.a. ill-legal? is one of UK Thursdays' resident DJs and promoters whom I've had the opportunity to interact with on several occasions along with getting the chance to catch several of his mixed genre sets. In short, this guy definitely knows his shit. His bio reads, "DJ, producer, & promoter. I play damn near anything with a broken beat, genres include (but are not limited to): Glitch, Mid-Tempo, Dubstep, Breaks, Electro/Miami Bass, Drum'n'Bass, Hip-Hop, accentuated with some turntablism. My mediums of choice are vinyl, Serato, and Ableton Live. I currently represent for Theoretic Records and hold a residency with UK Thursdays." Make sure to check out his soundcloud along with his kick-ass mix below. The St. Valentine's Day Massacre Vol. III by ill-legal?

October 2011 - Blakeland - Do You Trance?

One of my all time favorite Arizona locals is hardstyle/trance DJ Blakeland. He's been around in the scene for longer than I have and I've always been very impressed with his professional mixing style and his ability to make trance a lot less boring than most DJs manage to make it. This mix below is a little old (he has a more recent one but hardstyle will be featured on this site over my dead body) but it's still a great example of Blakeland's epic style and talent. Check it out and hear more at Blakeland's soundcloud. Power of Trance by Blakeland

September 2011 - Eric Prydz - EPIC

Eric Prydz is a Swedish Dj and Producer out of London. Since his hit "Call on Me" in 2005, he has become a household house dj name and continues to bang out hot tracks and great sets all over Europe. The live mix below entitled "EPIC" from a show in Brixton, London is pretty great and contains some new and old stuff that is sure to get you dancing. Listen to it below and check out Prydz's website for more info. Eric Prydz Pres. EPIC - o2 Academy Brixton, London 02.04.11 (Full Set) by Eric Prydz Official I had to post this too just because its pretty much my favorite EDM music video ever. Prydz + Spandex + Hot Bitches = Perfection.

August 2011 - Sean Android - Crush 3 Promo Mix

Crush 3 has come and gone but this mix remains as a constant reminder of Sean Android's mixing talent. This man never ceases to surprise me with his creative mixing style and the splash of dubstep that he adds to his sets makes them unforgettable. Sean also produces and lists his multi-genre influences as BT, Matthew Harris, Wolfgang Gartner, D-Unity, Deadmau5, Dubfire plus several more. You can check out some of his remixes on his soundcloud. His website is under construction but you can find out everything you need to know by adding his fan page on Facebook. DJ Mixes by Sean Android

July 2011 - Matthew Harris - Shuffle to This

Matthew Harris has been mixing since 1998 and continues to bring a mix of Fidget/Electro House, Uk/Speed Garage, Trance, and little Techno to his powerful sets. Even with his years of experience he still maintains a personal relationship with his fans and he remains one of the most popular DJs in the AZ scene. This mix follows right along with Harris's mixing legacy. He writes, "This mix was made between the end of Dec. beginning of Jan. and its only 40 minutes long because it was supposed to be a part of a dual CD Release. Well the other person I was doing the release with backed out. So I decided I still want to release the mix so here it is. Newly renamed, SHUFFLE TO THIS." Download it from his soundcloud.
